Garden Rejuvenation
If your garden has lost its spark, or you’re feeling unsure where to go next, our garden rejuvenation service is here to help.
Every project begins with an initial consultation — a cup of tea, a chat, and a walk through your garden. Together, we’ll develop a plan that reflects your vision and budget, with the ultimate goal of creating a garden that feels personal to you, as well as being both beautiful and resilient.
We only use organic, regenerative gardening practices that champion soil health, biodiversity, and habitat creation, gently guiding your garden to restore its own balance, naturally. This isn’t a quick one-off clearance service, but rather a thoughtful, long-term process, where we care for your garden as if it were our own.
What’s involved?
Our approach to garden rejuvenation and how we bring tired spaces back to life.
01.
Initial client consultation
We’ll begin with a relaxed chat and a short questionnaire to understand your garden, your vision, and how you’d like to use the space. Together, we’ll define your style, priorities, and budget, setting a clear direction and timeline.
Afterwards, you’ll receive a written brief summarising our discussion, initial ideas, and suggested next steps.
This one-off consultation is offered at a fixed fee of £80.
02.
Site assessment
The first real step begins with our initial day on-site. We tackle the more obvious tasks and address any immediate issues, all while assessing your garden’s current condition. In our experience, the quickest way to understand a garden is simply by getting stuck in.
We review sunlight, shade, soil structure, drainage, existing plants, and habitats to decide what to retain, enhance, or replace - all in open communication and collaboration with you.
All findings are carefully recorded and contribute to developing your bespoke rejuvenation plan.
03.
Preparation and clearing
This is where visible change begins. We remove unwanted plants, weeds, and debris to create a clean, workable canvas, essentially stripping the garden back as far as needed to rebuild and restructure it on healthy foundations.
Everything is done in alignment with the seasons, so this step usually occurs in stages over the first year or two. Existing plants that are staying will be pruned, divided, or reshaped, and borders carefully redefined.
04.
Soil regeneration
Healthy soil is the foundation of a thriving garden. We assess its texture, structure, and pH, then enrich it with organic matter, beneficial fungi, and natural amendments to restore fertility and vitality. The fresh organic matter also helps suppress weeds and marks the official start of our journey toward no-dig garden management, promoting healthier plants and increased biodiversity.
Investing the right amount of time in this preparation phase benefits the garden in the long term and significantly reduces both ongoing maintenance efforts and costs.
05.
Structure and layout
Before planting, we’ll refine the garden’s framework — pathways, beds, edges, and any minor landscaping to improve flow, drainage, and access. Subtle grading or reshaping may also enhance water movement and create microhabitats.
We work alongside trusted and talented hard landscapers who can assist as needed on any structural elements.
06.
Planting
Now comes the truly fun part! With the garden’s structure taking shape, we can begin softening the space with fresh planting. Trees, shrubs, and perennials are carefully selected to suit your soil, light, and style, combining structure, colour, and texture for year-round interest. A mix of native and pollinator-friendly species helps create a resilient, biodiverse ecosystem that evolves naturally over time. You can set a budget and let us choose the plants, or commission a bespoke planting plan to elevate your garden to a whole new level - the choice is yours.
07.
Habitat enhancement
As part of this long-term rejuvenation process, we can add or restore habitat features such as ponds, stumperies, hibernacula, or pollinator patches. These elements enhance the garden’s ecological value, supporting birds, insects, amphibians, and other wildlife while enriching the natural feel of your space. There’s no fixed stage for integrating these features, but the earlier we know what you’re looking for, the more seamlessly we can blend them into the garden as a whole.
08.
Finishing touches
With planting complete and all elements in place, we’ll refine the details — from adding fresh mulch and neatening borders to installing garden lighting, seating, and any additional smaller habitats such as bird or bat boxes. These finishing touches really do bring the garden together, making it cohesive, inviting, and ready for you to enjoy.
09.
Aftercare
Once the rejuvenation is complete, we’ll stay in touch to guide you through the garden’s first few months of establishment. We can provide ongoing maintenance or revisit seasonally to monitor progress, adjust care routines, and ensure your garden continues to thrive naturally.
Regenerative gardening
Def. regenerative gardening is a holistic and sustainable approach to cultivating green spaces. It prioritises soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem resilience. By mimicking natural processes, regenerative gardening seeks to rejuvenate the environment, focusing on carbon sequestration and reduced chemical inputs. It encourages practices such as no-dig gardening, cover cropping, and companion planting to create thriving, self-sustaining ecosystems.
By gardening regeneratively, we can:
Rebuild the levels of organic matter within the soil (deeper soil = less carbon in our atmosphere)
Actively restore degraded soil biodiversity, leading to stronger, healthier, more beautiful plants
Provide habitats for multiple species, resulting in a more balanced ecosystem with fewer problems
