Garden Rejuvenation
There's a good garden in there. We'll help you find it.
Our rejuvenation service is for gardens that have been neglected, lost their direction, or simply never quite reached their potential. It's a thoughtful, phased process — typically unfolding over one to two years — aimed at restoring balance, building resilience, and getting your garden to a place where it can be properly maintained and genuinely enjoyed.
It begins with a conversation. We'll visit, walk the space with you, and take the time to understand what you love about it, what's frustrating you, and what you'd like it to become. From there, we build a clear plan together — tailored to your garden's specific needs, your vision, and your budget. Nothing happens without your sign-off, and we keep you involved at every stage. Your investment in the process matters as much as ours.
What’s involved?
Our approach to garden rejuvenation and how we bring tired spaces back to life.
Assessment & planning
Rather than arriving and getting stuck in without context, we start by properly assessing what's there — soil structure, drainage, light, existing plants, and habitats — recording everything and using it to map out a realistic, seasonal work plan. We take the time to understand how you use the space, what you love about it, and what you'd like it to become. Timing matters enormously in gardening, and knowing when to do things is as important as knowing how. Crucially, we keep detailed records throughout the entire project. Years down the line, we'll still know exactly what was done, when, and why — invaluable when managing something like a phased pruning programme on an old apple tree, where the history of previous cuts directly shapes every future decision.
Preparation & groundwork
From there, the work unfolds in carefully timed phases — and it's worth knowing that this stage often looks worse before it gets better. Clearing and preparation comes first — removing what isn't working, retaining and reshaping what is. Because we work in alignment with the seasons, this part of the process may unfold gradually rather than all at once, which can feel slow but makes a real difference to the long-term outcome. Soil regeneration follows, enriching the ground with organic matter and beneficial biology, and marking the start of our no-dig approach. This is the least visible part of the process and arguably the most valuable — healthy soil means stronger plants, fewer weeds, and significantly less maintenance effort down the line.
Planting & finishing touches
This is where the garden starts to come into its own. With the groundwork in place, we bring both our horticultural knowledge and a designer's eye to every decision — from how the space flows and feels, to the selection and layering of plants. Native species, pollinators, and seasonal interest are combined for a garden that evolves naturally over time, and feels as alive as it looks.
If you'd like more involvement at this stage, we can produce a bespoke planting plan tailored to your space and style, or you can set a budget and trust us to choose. Habitat features — ponds, stumperies, pollinator patches, hibernacula — are woven in wherever they suit the space, and mulching is applied throughout to continue building the soil long after we've finished.
Beyond the project
Rejuvenation doesn't end when the last plant goes in. We offer seasonal maintenance to carry the garden through its establishment — monitoring progress, adjusting care routines, and making sure everything continues to thrive. The work we invest in early makes this ongoing care lighter and less intensive than conventional maintenance; by that point, the garden is largely looking after itself.
Let’s get started!
Every project begins with an initial consultation — a site visit, a thorough look around, and a written brief summarising our findings and suggested direction. This is offered at a fixed fee of £80, and forms the foundation for everything that follows.
If this sounds like the kind of care your garden needs, we'd love to hear from you!
Regenerative gardening
Def. regenerative gardening is a holistic and sustainable approach to cultivating green spaces. It prioritises soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem resilience. By mimicking natural processes, regenerative gardening seeks to rejuvenate the environment, focusing on carbon sequestration and reduced chemical inputs. It encourages practices such as no-dig gardening, cover cropping, and companion planting to create thriving, self-sustaining ecosystems.
By gardening regeneratively, we can:
Rebuild the levels of organic matter within the soil (deeper soil = less carbon in our atmosphere)
Actively restore degraded soil biodiversity, leading to stronger, healthier, more beautiful plants
Provide habitats for multiple species, resulting in a more balanced ecosystem with fewer problems
